How Low Will Fashion Go?

Oh the lows that competing fashion houses "allegedly" sink to in order to get prominent actresses to shill their wares. The NY Daily News is reporting that someone stole a $100,000 purse that Cate Blanchett was supposed to carry down the red carpet, and some are crying "Foul Play!"

Best Supporting Actress nominee (and previous winner) Cate Blanchett reported a $100,000 diamond and alligator handbag stolen from her hotel room the day before the Oscars. And some fashionistas are alleging dirty tricks.

The one-of-a-kind clutch was intended for her red carpet appearance by Palm Beach designer Lana Marks. But according to a friend of the actress, Giorgio Armani (who had flown to Los Angeles to outfit celebs) pressured her to carry one of his bags because he had designed her dress.

So some find it mighty suspicious that the Marks bag suddenly went missing from the closet in her suite at the Four Seasons, "solving" the problem.

Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.
