Blues Traveler Frontman Arrested

Former Blues Traveler lead singer John Popper was arrested near Spokane Washington on Tuesday. Not only was he doing 111 mph, but when police pulled over his Mercedes SUV they found it full of guns and other military paraphernalia stashed in hidden compartments.

Popper had four rifles, nine handguns, a taser, nightvision goggles, and a switchblade. Also installed on the truck were flashing emergency headlights, a siren and a public address system.
Sounds like the former big guy might be something of a survivalist. Either that or he was planning on robbing a bank to supplement his income.

Actually, Popper told police that he had installed these items in his vehicle because in the event of a natural disaster he didn't want to be left behind.

Popper is best known as being a harmonica virtuoso and lead singer of the alt band Blues Traveler. He lost a lot of weight several years ago after a heart attack brought on by years of compulsive overeating. He has another arrest on his record for posession of marijuana in 2003.
