Travolta Donates Money to Help Tornado Victims
John Travolta donated $15,000 to the victims of the tornadoes in Lady Lake, Florida this week. He gave the mayor of the town a personal check the night of the 'Wild Hogs' premiere, and hopes his donation will help out. The tornadoes took the lives of 21 people on February 2nd.
Travolta has lived in nearby Ocala for 4 years, and says "These things happen in Florida and when they happen we all have to do something to help. "I just felt the time was right. We're promoting a movie. I think the best movie openings and promotions are when you can do it for charity and help people. I live here. These are my people."
The movie screening raised an additional $15,000, and afterwards Ocala mayor Randy Ewers presented Travolta with a key to the city.
